HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares in Viet Nam's Hanoi and HCM City stock markets ended lower on Thursday. The HNX Index down 0.51 point to 62.08 and the VN Index lost 4.01 points to 498.22.
Singapore shares ended lower with the Straits Times Index slipping 61.2 points to 3,393.17. Some 4.6 billion shares, valued at S$2.79 billion were traded. Losers outnumbered gainers 482 to 73.
Malaysian shares ended lower with the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index dipping 10.82 points to 1,773.06. Some 2.14 billion lots, valued at RM2.96 billion were traded. Losers outnumbered gainers 808 to 160.
A weak reading of the HSBC Flash Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) that suggested contraction in the manufacturing sector in May weighed on Chinese shares on Thursday, sinking stocks indexes by more than 1 percent.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 1.16 percent, or 26.74 points, to end at 2,275.67. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 1.48 percent, or 139.39 points, to 9,265.68.— The Straits Times/China Daily/ANN/VNS
