Seven traders assigned import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024

Seven traders were assigned at the 2024 sugar import tariff quota allocation session by way of an auction in Hà Nội on Friday.

The seven are: the Việt Nam Sugar Joint Stock Company, the Quảng Ngãi Sugar Joint Stock Company, the Lam Sơn Sugar Cane Joint Stock Corporation, the Thành Thành Công - Biên Hòa Joint Stock Company, the Biên Hòa Consumer Joint Stock Company and the Agris Ninh Hòa Import Export Joint Stock Company who were all awarded 20,000 tonnes and the Sông Lam Sugar Joint Stock Company 1,000 tonnes.

The council for the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar said that the total amount of sugar this year allocated by auction was 121,000 tonnes, out of the total import tariff quota announced of 126,000 tonnes, accounting for 96.03 per cent.

Last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organised an auction to allocate import tariff quotas of 119,000 tonnes of sugar, with eight enterprises winning bids to import a total of 107,000 tonnes of sugar at the auction. — VNS
