At the reception, PM Phuc expressed his delight at the co-operation between Boeing and Vietnamese airlines.
He said he just had a successful meeting with US President Donald Trump, who said he was impressed by the signing of aircraft deals worth up to US$21 billion between Boeing and Vietnamese carriers.
The Vietnamese Government leader thanked Boeing for its long-term co-operation with Viet Nam over recent years, especially providing technical support and maintenance for Vietnamese airlines to enhance flight safety and helping the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines in opening direct flights to the US.
McAllister said as the aviation sector of Viet Nam will develop strongly in the future, Boeing wishes to collaborate with the country, not only in selling planes but also in technique, maintenance and airport infrastructure management.
He congratulated Viet Nam on obtaining the US certificate to enable its airlines to fly to the US.
According to PM Phuc, Viet Nam’s aviation development demand is huge as the country wants to purchase more new airplanes towards realising the goal of luring 50 million international visitors per year.
He asked the two sides to enhance collaboration to raise the prestige of Vietnamese carriers. He wished that Boeing will help Vietnamese airlines in aircraft maintenance to raise flight safety.
Viet Nam wishes to accelerate the launch of direct flights to the US, saying that this is a great opportunity for co-operation and exchanges in tourism and study between the two nations, he noted.
In reply, McAllister said Boeing is planning to expand the manufacturing of plane parts in Viet Nam, vowing to provide more support for the country.
Also the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for Mark Tucker, Group Chairman of the UK’s HSBC Holdings Plc, during which he congratulated HSBC for its successful operations in Viet Nam, which greatly contributes to the country’s economic development.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will make every effort to manage policies to ensure macroeconomic stability, especially monetary policy.
Affirming Viet Nam’s attractive business and investment environment, PM Phuc expressed his wish that HSBC will develop new business areas in Viet Nam and encourage investors of the UK and other countries to increase investment in the Southeast Asian nation. – VNS
