Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered ministries and sectors to devise plans to promote domestic production, create more jobs and ensure harmonious trade relations with key partners.
Speaking at a meeting between members of the Government and representatives of ministries and sectors in Ha Noi on Saturday to discuss measures to expand trade co-operation between Viet Nam and its big partners, the PM stressed these tasks would be key to ensuring macro-economic stability and maintaining the country’s growth.
He asked ministries, sectors and localities to make it easier for foreign enterprises and investors, especially those with environmentally-friendly technology, huge financial potential and supply chains, to operate in Viet Nam.
During the meeting, participants reviewed reports presented by ministries and sectors to assess trade relations between Viet Nam and its big partners, including the US, China, the Republic of Korea, ASEAN and Japan, and analyse weaknesses that need to be overcome.
Solutions and programmes were proposed to build sustainable and balanced trade relations and to combat trade fraud and goods of fraudulent origin.
In the long-term, PM Phuc asked ministries and sectors to perfect policies and institutional frameworks related to issues such as trade, monetary matters, finance-banking, IT and cybersecurity, to match with international standards and commitments Viet Nam has made.
The Government leader also requested ministries and agencies map out plans to cope with unexpected circumstances. — VNS
