The event, which had the theme ‘Model city initiative to welcome the United Nations’ 100 years,’ was held in response to the UN 100-year Initiative (UN 2045), an initiative by the United Nations and the Boston Global Forum.
It saw of the world's top leaders, thinkers and creators discuss typical city models likely in 2045.
One of them, an initiative which is connection model between NovaWorld Phan Thiet and Artificial Intelligence World Society Innovation (AIWS) City was proposed as a combination of virtual and real cities to create a unique model for the world.
Last year Novaland, the developer of NovaWorld Phan Thiet, signed a strategic agreement with the US’s Michael Dukakis Institute for Leadership and Innovation to develop artificial intelligence (AI) programmes at NovaWorld Phan Thiet.
They will establish the Michael Dukakis Institute-Vietnam at NovaWorld Phan Thiet to organise leadership and creative training programmes taught online by professors, scholars and leaders from the US and other member countries of AIWS.
Talking about the initiative, Governor Michael Dukakis said: “The AIWS City will create new values as AIWS Rewards and presents AIWS Awards to honor new ideas, initiatives, and solutions by thinkers and creators in an effort to build a civilised, prosperous, peaceful, and happy world.
“We are glad to collaborate with NovaWorld Phan Thiet and World Leadership Alliance Club de Madrid to organise significant events, notably the conference in Phan Thiet in 2022 – a foundation to contribute to building Phan Thiet as a significant meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibition (MICE) destination in the world.”
Phan Thiet City in the south-central province of Binh Thuan is internationally known as a resort paradise in Vietnam with great potential for tourism development.
Provincial authorities target that by 2030 Phan Thiet will be a precious gem, a desirable tourism and resort destination for marine tourism and entertainment, adventure tourism and sports, cultural and spiritual tourism, healthcare and resorts, and especially conference travel.
Binh Thuan Province has made significant changes to its vision with co-ordinated planning for infrastructure. They include new expressways that are under construction and completing investment procedures for Phan Thiet airport, whose construction is expected to start in April 2021.
Speaking at the round table, Bui Thanh Nhon, Chairman of Nova Group & Chairman of Novaland Group, said: “We welcome international professors, leaders, artificial intelligence, digital and special organisations from the United Nations to help promote and connect Phan Thiet city as a typical global model. Thus, in 2045, which will mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the UN, there will be a new and innovative destination for the community.”
At the same time, activities to help make Phan Thiet become "the No. 1 MICE tourism city in the region and the world was discussed at the meeting.
Thomas Patterson, professor of government and the press at the US’s Harvard Kennedy School, said: “AIWS City will contribute ideas that will help NovaWorld Phan Thiet develop an eco-system in Phan Thiet which will be built on sustainable development, technological advances, educational innovation, and cultural preservation.”
NovaWorld Phan Thiet, an ultimate travel beach city
In Phan Thiet City, Novaland is developing the 1,000-hectare NovaWorld Phan Thiet project. To cost nearly US$5 billion, it will have hundreds of attractions and facilities like a theme park and water park (operated by Daemyung Sono, Korea's No. 1 entertainment group), a 7,000-seat indoor performing arts center, and exclusive PGA 36-hole golf course cluster, a 3,500-seat ATP tennis arena (together with the Vietnam Tennis Federation). Marathon running race; fashion malls, night street food and amusement entertainment center, a 16ha Bikini Beach operated by the famous Finns Beach Club (Bali's most bustling and beautiful beach club), prestigious national and international hospitals, beauty salons, colleges for nursing, tourism, F&B, and hospitality, and international village, a retirement village, and more than 20 hotels and resorts from the world’s most famous brands.
The project will also have infrastructure to become an ideal destination for MICE tourism, health tourism, team building, and a destination for summer activities for international students.
Many global events will be held there every year including golf and professional tennis tournaments, Olympic sports events, kite surfing, beauty contests, and fashion and music shows.
Phan Thiet will be the most coveted destination for MICE events and tourism in the world.
NovaWorld Phan Thiet and Michael Dukakis Institute will become a regular place to announce and honour new achievements and people making outstanding contributions to artificial intelligence and the digital economy, organise lectures by world leaders, thinkers and creators, and publish new initiatives, ideas and solutions to create a more civilised and prosperous world.
The Michael Dukakis Institute has selected Phan Thiet City as the venue for the 2022 Club de Madrid General Assembly and Annual Policy Dialogue.
