HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Ministry of Transport has allowed the Vietnam Airlines Tourism Company to resume the first-ever sleep pod service at Noi Bai International Airport from October 6.
According to the ministry's document No12301/BGTVT-VT, the Vietnam Airlines Tourism Company can resume the service, which was suspended on July 25, just three days after it was launched. According to the ministry, the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam, which ordered the suspension, has also agreed to the resumption of the service.
Thus, 14 sleep pods, measuring four square metres in area and three metres high, will offer passengers fully equipped private space with free drinks and snacks on the third floor of T1 in the airport.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam, there is no hotel inside the airport, so the sleep pods are necessary to help passengers who are in transit, or have delayed or cancelled flights to deal with.
The Vietnam Airlines Tourism Company said on its official website that the pods are available on rent on hourly, half-day or daily basis at rates that range between VND210,000 (US$10) and VND1.8 million (US$84).
