ĐÀ NẴNG — Kazakhstan's national flag carrier Air Astana and SCAT Airlines have scheduled flights from Almaty and Astana to Đà Nẵng starting this June, after the two airlines worked with the Airports Corporation of Việt Nam (ACV) to launch the new air routes.

A source from ACV-Đà Nẵng said Air Astana would start its regular Almaty-Đà Nẵng route from June 4, increasing the number of flights to Việt Nam to nine per week, including four flights between Almaty and Nha Trang, three flights between Astana and Nha Trang, and flights to Phú Quốc and Đà Nẵng.

Meanwhile, SCAT Airlines plans to start its Astana to Đà Nẵng route as soon as the schedule is fixed with local airport authorities.

In 2023, SCAT Airlines started flights from Almaty, Kazakhstan to Cam Ranh Airport, Khánh Hoà Province and Phú Quốc Island.

The new air routes from Kazakhstan demonstrate the progress of cooperation between the country and Đà Nẵng, since a Memorandum of Understanding on friendship and cooperation was signed by Đà Nẵng and Aktau earlier this year.

The central coastal Vietnamese city had previously hosted a FAM trip for travel agencies from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Philippines with an aim of promoting tourism links and launching more new flights.

Cebu Pacific Air is operating seven flights from Manila to Đà Nẵng, while Royal Air offers four chartered flights per week.

The national carrier, Vietnam Airlines, also plans to start flights between Đà Nẵng and Bangkok, Thailand from March 30, and between Osaka and Đà Nẵng from July.

Myanmar Airways has also scheduled two flights per week for its Đà Nẵng-Yangon route, starting on April 2.

In 2024, Đà Nẵng International Airport hosted 13.4 million passengers, of which 6.2 million were international arrivals. The airport also saw 32,400 tonnes of cargo land last year.

The airport has 24 direct air routes, of which 16 are international, hosting an average of 90 to 140 flights per day.
