Nearly 2,000 school students in HCM City are taking part in the 2022-2023 Vovinam Viet Vo Dao Nestle MILO Cup being held at Phu Tho Stadium in District 11 from March 18 to 21.

“Thanks to the attention and support from parents, this traditional martial art is attracting more and more children to practice and compete. In addition to bringing health benefits, Vovinam also helps children have a positive spirit and enthusiasm in both learning and physical training,” said Nguyen Binh Dinh, vice president and general secretary of the HCM City Vovinam Viet Vo Dao Federation.

Organised by the Departments of Culture and Sports, and Education and Training, the federation and Nestle MILO, the tournament is among a series of activities under the ‘Active Vietnam’ programme that aims to encourage a dynamic lifestyle and physical activity in the community, especially among children.

This year also marks the sixth year that the Nestle MILO brand accompanies the tournament.

Tran Thi Chinh, head of Marketing Services at Nestle Vietnam Company, said by joining hands with the Vovinam Federation, Nestle MILO expects to bring the sport closer to the young Vietnamese generation to inspire more students to practise it to improve their physical health and hone perseverance, an essential quality for success in life.

In another development, Walking Day 2023, another annual activity under the "Active Vietnam" initiated by Nestle MILO, was held in Nghe An Province for the first time on March 19, with the participation of 7,500 people, including students and their parents.

Since it was first held in 2014, the programme has been organised in many localities across the country, including Bac Giang, Ha Noi, HCM City and Can Tho, and has inspired nearly 100,000 children across the country to participate in sports. — VNS
