HCM CITY — NAPAS, Mastercard and Payoo, alongside supporting organisations, have announced financial support for 200 vulnerable women at high risk of cancer, marking the completion of Phase 2 of the 'Tap to Share, Give Hope' programme.

Each woman will receive VNĐ5 million (US$200) to access in-depth cancer screenings and hopefully lead to early detection.

The programme aims to support the health of vulnerable women by providing free preliminary screenings and financial assistance for advanced tests.

Phase 1, from July to October 2024, screened 2,010 women in Hà Nội and HCM City for breast, thyroid, cervical and ovarian cancers. It also engaged the public through awareness campaigns at universities and events like Việt Nam Card Day.

Phase 2, which began in November 2024, focused on providing financial aid to 200 women identified as being at high risk. The VNĐ5 million will be deposited directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, enabling them to undergo advanced screening at accredited oncology centres.

The beneficiaries were selected by the Red Cross Society and Youth Union, ensuring fairness and transparency. The programme also aims to raise awareness about the importance of early cancer detection.

Speaking at the launch of the latest phase, Nguyễn Đăng Hùng, Deputy General Director of NAPAS, said: "The programme providing 200 financial support packages for cancer screening to vulnerable women and at high risk of the disease represents a meaningful and practical action.

"We believe that this support will serve as a source of encouragement, empowering women to take a more proactive approach to their health, thereby improving their overall quality of life.

“Mastercard is highly appreciative of NAPAS and Payoo for their collaboration on Phase 2 of the programme, through which several vulnerable women were empowered with access to essential healthcare and support timely cancer screenings and early intervention,” said Winnie Wong, Country Manager, Việt Nam, Cambodia and Laos, Mastercard.

Ngô Trung Linh, CEO of VietUnion, the company behind the Payoo payment platform said: “The most important goal of the programme is to raise awareness about health care and early cancer screening. We hope the values brought by this will continue to be amplified, serving as motivation for more meaningful community initiatives in the future.”— VNS
