The majority of Asian shares closed in the green on Tuesday, with HCM City the only market to slip into the red. In Ha Noi, the HNX Index added 0.19 points to finish at 62.99 but in the south of the country, HCM City's VN Index lost 1.87 points to close on 504.29.

In China, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 39.11 points to end at 2,043.88, while the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong jumped 498.92 points to close at 21,915.42. The Straits Times Index gained 19.41 points to finish at 3,253.8.
Tokyo shares also ended higher with the Nikkei 225 gaining 120.47 to end at 14,778.51 , while the Topix Index edged up 6.19 points to reach 1,222.72.
