Most Asian indices close lower, except Shanghai


The Shanghai Composite Index jumped 115.84 points to touch 3,350.52 in mainland China, but other indices lost points in the Asian market on January 5.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Shanghai Composite Index jumped 115.84 points to touch 3,350.52 in mainland China, but other indices lost points in the Asian market on January 5.

The Hang Seng Index fell 136.50 points to 23,721.32 in Hong Kong and its Japanese counterpart, the Nikkei 225, slipped 42.06 to close at 17,408.71. The Topix Index closed while down 6.42 points at 1,401.09 in Tokyo. In Singapore, the Straits Times Index lost 42.31 points to end at 3,328.28.

 

The two bourses in Viet Nam also closed lower on the same day. The VN Index slipped 1.18 points to close at 544.45, and the HNX edged down 0.24 points to finish at 82.74. — VNS
