Mondelez Kinh Đô has recently launched "Trash Right", an initiative aimed at promoting awareness of environmental issues, instilling proper waste disposal practices, and advocating for sustainable development within a circular packaging economy.

The launching programme was coordinated and piloted at two schools, Tuy An 1 Primary School and Bình Thuận Primary School in Thuận An City of the southern province of Bình Dương, where more than 3,000 students, 100 teachers and representatives of local government were engaged by the Mondelez Kinh Đô leadership team and 40 volunteers.

The Trash Right programme is part of Mondelēz International's sustainable packaging strategy in Southeast Asia. It underscores crucial objectives of promoting awareness about environmental issues, instilling proper waste disposal practices, and advocating for sustainable development within a circular packaging economy.

In Việt Nam, the "Trash Right" initiative unfolds as a comprehensive approach aimed at equipping schools with the knowledge and skills essential for the classification and recycling of plastic waste with plans to expand and replicate in the future.

This multifaceted initiative introduces a tailored training programmeme for primary school teachers, enlightening them on recycling and sustainable development. The curriculum imparts knowledge about the significance of reducing, reusing, and recycling, complemented by training on the proper collection and sorting of recyclable waste.

To actively engage students, the initiative incorporates green lessons and captivating games, offering insights into the perils of plastic waste pollution and guiding them on the correct methods of waste classification.

Throughout the programme, students actively participated in waste classification and collection activities at home, resulting in the sorting and collection of nearly 0.6 tonnes of waste during the two-day event hosted at the schools.

Furthermore, Mondelez Kinh Đô helps establish waste collection and sorting sites within schools, encouraging ongoing active participation from students in this critical process.

Anil Viswanathan, managing director of Mondelez Kinh Đô Vietnam, said: "The Trash Right programme serves as a testament to Mondelez Kinh Đô's unwavering dedication to creating a positive impact on the environment. The heart of this programme lies in fostering responsible waste management and, more importantly, to inspire positive change within the younger generation. By raising awareness, behavioural change, and sustainable practices, we not only contribute to the well-being of our communities but also pave the way for sustainable growth in Việt Nam.”

Beyond cultivating environmental awareness, Mondelez Kinh Đô contributes tables and chairs crafted from recycled plastic to the participating schools. This not only elevates school facilities but also stands as an inspiring gesture, motivating students to actively participate in waste recycling and environmental protection endeavours.
