Thai wholesaler MM Mega Market Vietnam Company Ltd on Wednesday announced plans to start exporting Vietnamese agriculture products to Singapore.

It signed a contract with CMM Marketing Management PTE LTD Singapore (CMM Singapore) to export fresh vegetables, edible fungi and fruits to the island through CMM Singapore starting next month.

The first shipment will be 20 tonnes of sweet potato and seedless lemon.

It is expected that this year MMVN will export around 100 tonnes to Singapore.

Phidsanu Pongwatana, managing director of MM Mega Market Vietnam, said: “We are delighted that MMVN continues to be the connection, bringing Viet Nam's agricultural products to Singapore, an import market with great potential but also very demanding.

“We believe that the strength of our supply chains for safe agricultural products and export experience to the system of more than 1,000 Big C Thai stores will help MMVN successfully export Vietnamese agricultural products to Singapore in the coming years.”

Singapore is MMVN’s second export market for Vietnamese agricultural products after Thailand.

Since it began exports to Thailand last year, it has increased the volume to around 200 tonnes per month now.

After more than 10 years of building a modern chain of production links to serve domestic and export needs, MMVN is currently co-operating with nearly 300 farming households in three places in Lam Dong Province.
