HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Mercedes-Benz Vietnam is recalling more than 1,000 E-class and CLS models due to a potential fire risk as the rubber hood trim could fall into the engine compartment.
Apparently, a portion of the rubber hood seal can become loose and detach from the body and may stick to the hood. If that happens, when the hood is closed, the rubber could fall into the engine compartment. If it touches the exhaust or any other hot part, it could catch fire and impact the engine bay.
All versions and body styles produced from July 2012 to December 2014 and six CLS have been recalled.
The firm will notify the owners this week and begin the fixes immediately. The fix will be performed free of charge should take about 20 minutes. — VNS
