HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Viet Nam Macadamia Association has been established under Decision No124/QÐ-BNV of the home affairs ministry (MHA).
The MHA approved the plan proposed by LienVietPostBank and Him Lam Real Estate Joint Stock Company to establish the association to bolster product quality, trade promotion and branding.
LienVietPostBank and Him Lam Company have implemented many activities over the past year to develop macadamia trees into a new strategic crop, in addition to preparing for the establishment of the association.
The two companies also invited experts from other macadamia-producing countries such as Australia, China, South Africa and the United States to visit Viet Nam to carry out research on developing the macadamia plant and provide consultations on the issue.
LienVietPostBank and Him Lam Company have become members of the Australia Macadamia Association.
Him Lam Company has developed two large nurseries in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong. It is also building two macadamia processing plants in the southern Binh Duong Province and Lam Dong Province.
My Anh-Khe Sanh Company, an Australian enterprise, has completed the construction of another macadamia processing factory in the central Quang Tri Province, making it the third macadamia processing plant to be established in Viet Nam.
Nguyen Duc Huong, LienVietPostBank's permanent vice-chairman of the board of directors, said macadamia nuts would become a strategic crop, adding that all activities relating to the development of macadamia trees would have practical results, turning the Central Highlands into the "macadamia capital" of Southeast Asia. — VNS
