Local shipbuilder launches first Tug for New Zealand

DA NANG (VNS) — The Song Thu shipyard on March 25 launched the first tug, which is part of the order for four Azimuth Stern Drive Tugs (ADS) project for New Zealand-based Port Otago Limited company.

The ASD Tug, which is 24m long and 11m wide, will start operations in Port Chalmers.

The Da Nang-based shipbuilder, in cooperation with the Damen Shipyards Group from the Netherlands, has produced 40 different vessels for export, including fast crew supply ships, rescue ships, salvage tugs, drive tugs and patrol boats, for the Middle East, South America, Europe, and domestic market, with annual exports volume of US$55 million.

The shipbuilder earned revenues of VND1.5 trillion (US$71 million) last year. — VNS
