The Da Lat Worsted Spinning Limited Co in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has shipped the first batch of four tonnes of sheep wool yarn to Japan.
The company, which operates a US$50 million sheep wool factory in Da Lat City, is expected to ship 300 tonnes of yarn abroad this year. The plant is a joint venture project between Germany’s Sudwolle Group and Lien Phuong Textiles Industry Company, based in HCM City.

Up to 90 per cent of the finished wool yarn from the factory will be shipped to textile companies using sheep wool worldwide.
In addition to the production function, the factory will be open to visitors who can watch the whole process of producing yarns from natural wool.
Viet Nam currently has 50 garment facilities using wool, with most of them using materials imported from Australia.— VNS
