A Korean eye hospital has opened a polyclinic in HCM City’s District 7.

Kim’s Eye Hospital of Konyang University’s College of Medical Science said in a release it did four years of preliminary research before opening Kim's Eye & Dasom Polyclinic on April 13.

“Currently around 3,500 Korean companies are in Việt Nam and the Korean wave has raised interest in Korea's medical sector Dr Kim Hisoo, the founder of Konyang University, said.

“The Vietnamese Government is also actively calling for co-operation with Korea’s medical sector.”

Kim Sungjoo, the director of the polyclinic, has obtained a local medical licence and will personally diagnose and treat patients.

"By participating in the Viet Nam Ophthalmological Society’s activities and numerous seminars, and engaging in medical volunteer work with Vietnamese doctors, I had the opportunity to feel the passion of young Vietnamese doctors.”

“Based on this close relationship with the Vietnamese medical industry, our goal is to open at least three hospitals within 10 years.”

Kim’s Eye Hospital, the largest and the most well-known ophthalmology hospital in Korea, was established in 1962 by Kim and has since treated 16 million outpatients.

It has strong understanding of the Southeast Asian region through its decade-long medical volunteer work in Cambodia and training of doctors from Cambodia, the Philippines, China, Mongolia, and other countries. — VNS
