International electrical technology, energy-efficiency exhibitions open


The 12th International Exhibition on Electrical Technology and Equipment and 9th International Exhibition on Products, Technologies for Energy Saving and Green Power opened in HCM City on Wednesday.

The 12th International Exhibition on Electrical Technology and Equipment and 9th International Exhibition on Products, Technologies for Energy Saving and Green Power opened in HCM City on Wednesday.

They feature more than 500 booths set up by nearly 400 companies such as the HCM City Power Corporation, Gelex, ABB, LS Vina, Panasonic, Philips, Long Giang, APS Tuan An, Dien Quang, HENGS Vietnam, and VNG.

On show are technologies, machinery and equipment for power plants and power stations, power generation and transmission; transformer stations; cables; electrical conductors and insulating materials; civil electrical products; energy saving LED lights; and solar lights and solar panels.

The participants are from many countries and territories, including Germany, France, the US, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Among the highlights of the events this year is the Korea Smart Electric and Energy Week hosted by the Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association to showcase its latest achievements in electricity.

An international conference on Viet Nam’s Strategy for Developing Green Energy and Energy Saving to 2020 with a Vision until 2030 and Implementation Status in HCM City and technical seminars, besides business matching and site visits will be organised.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Phuong Dong, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said: “Along with the rapid development of the city economy, demand for energy … has tended to increase.”

The city’s electricity output was 25.5 billion kWh last year, a year-on-year increase of 7 per cent.

It is forecast to be 26 billion kWh this year.

The efficient use of energy and promoting new sources of energy and renewables have become an urgent requirement, he said.

The exhibitions will offer consumers access to energy-saving products, high-tech electrical equipment, and green energy solutions, he added.

Organised by the HCM City Centre for Supporting Industries Development and C.I.S Vietnam Advertising and Exhibition Joint Stock Company, the exhibitions, on at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre in District 7, will go on until July 20. — VNS
