HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – Jet Airways, India's premier international airline, announced on Wednesday that it had begun flights between HCM City and Mumbai/Delhi via Bangkok on November 5, with 77 per cent of seas sold in the first week.
The flight, which has a code share with Vietnam Airlines, will offer convenient connections to over 53 destinations in India and to Paris, London's Heathrow airport, North America and the Gulf states.
With the opening of the new route, Vietnam Airlines and Jet Airways hope to see a significant increase in travellers between the two countries. Last year, the total number was 16,000. In the first six months of this year, volume grew by 25 per cent.
The two carriers also predict the new route will create opportunities to develop trade, investment and tourism relations between Viet Nam and India.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said further negotiations to deepen co-operation between the two carriers was also taking place.
If the HCM City-Mumbai/New Delhi flight does well, the airline will open a direct flight to Ha Noi.
Jet Airways operates a fleet of 113 aircraft and flies to 74 domestic and international destinations. HCM City is the airline's 22nd international destination. — VNS
