Steel maker Hoa Sen Group has donated VND600 million (US$27,000) to relief efforts in the south central province of Binh Dinh where people have been severely affected by floods.
It donated another VND1.4 billion ($63,400) to the provincial social welfare fund to help disadvantaged people.
Hoa Sen has contributed much to the socio-economic development of Binh Dinh in the form of two steel plants and one plastic plant it has there. Another steel plant will go on stream next April.
The group said it would earmark a part of the profits it earns from its Binh Dinh plants to support the local community.
Earlier this year it gave gifts to 4,500 local people worth VND3 billion ($136,000). — VNS
