Hoa Phat Group’s steel sales in the first six months of the year reached 560,000 tonnes, posting a 14 per cent year-on-year increase.

Construction steel sales increased 51 per cent from the same period last year to 348,000 tonnes, while hot-rolled coil (HRC) steel reached 202,000 tonnes, representing a 12 per cent year-on-year decrease.

The group’s construction steel consumption last month saw high growth as the southern market and exports posted increases of 200 per cent and 60 per cent respectively over the same period in 2021. The Government's requirement to promote the progress of public investment projects, especially key infrastructure projects, including the North-South expressway, has helped the demand in the building materials market increase.

Hoa Phat achieved a high export volume thanks to exploiting some new markets such as Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as maintaining traditional markets such as Canada, Japan, Cambodia, and Thailand.

In 2022, the group will have 30 years of construction and development experience, operating in five fields with steel as its core business. The group has created jobs and stable incomes for nearly 30,000 people across the country’s provinces and cities, as well as in Australia and Singapore. The number of employees working in the steel industry accounts for 88 per cent of the total number of the group’s employees. — VNS
