HCM City shoppers enjoy Reunification Day promotions, discounts


Supermarkets, malls and retail chains are rolling out major promotions, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent, to attract consumers on the occasion of April 30 and May Day holiday.

HCM CITY — As Việt Nam celebrates its 50th Reunification Day, HCM City has come alive with festive decorations and hectic shopping.

Supermarkets, malls and retail chains are rolling out major promotions, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent, to attract consumers.

Shopping centres and supermarket chains such as Vincom, AEON Mall, Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, and Big C have seen a big jump in footfall.

Decked out in national flags and flowers, they have become vibrant, celebratory spaces.

Retailers are optimistic that consumer spending during the holidays will increase by 20-30 per cent compared to regular days, driven by discounts across various categories—from groceries and household goods to fashion and electronics.

Saigon Co.op is running a campaign from April 24 to May 14 at its 800 Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers, Finelife, Sense City, and SenseMarket stores, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent, cashback and gifts.

Co.opmart and Co.opXtra are offering maximum discounts on fresh foods from opening time until 11:00 AM as part of the “Half-Price Vietnamese Dishes – Celebrating Independence” programme.

Besides, they offer up to 50 per cent discounts on dry foods, personal care items, household goods, fashion, and Co.op private-label products.

They are also offering attractive discounts on online shopping: Customers shopping online from April 28 to May 1 will receive a VNĐ50,000 discount on orders of over VNĐ800,000.

Central Retail Vietnam is running the "Proud of Vietnamese Agricultural Products 2025" event across its GO!, Big C and Tops Market chains through May 7.

Over 1,000 items ranging from fresh foods and beverages to regional specialties and fashion are being sold at up to 50 per cent discount along with attractive gifts.

WinMart is running a special promotion from April 24 to May 7, offering discounts of up to 50 per cent across all product categories. Additionally, from April 26 to May 4, WinMart will host a beverage festival featuring attractive prices.

Lotte Mart is offering up to 50 per cent discounts on more than 5,000 items, while MM Mega Market slashed prices by 50 per cent on Đà Lạt avocados and 50 other popular agricultural products.

Fashion and accessories stores and big brands inside shopping malls and on main streets are also offering big discounts on the occasion.

Nguyễn Nguyên Phương, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said that this year his agency would continue to run major programmes such as market stabilisation, two major promotional campaigns, and supply-demand connection activities to stimulate consumer spending and support businesses, enabling the retail sector to sustain its double-digit growth. — VNS
