HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The State Bank of Vietnam reduced by VND25 per dollar the June 6 reference rate for the Vietnamese dong and US dollar of VND21,914 per dollar.
The greenback rates also fell sharply from last week's rates at most of the commercial banks.
With a three per cent margin, the ceiling rate per dollar in local banks was VND22,576 and the floor rate was VND21,495.
So far this morning, Vietcombank listed its buying rate at VND22,380 and selling rate at VND22,450, down 25 dong and 24 dong from last week's rates, respectively.
Commercial bank Eximbank listed its buying and selling rates at VND22,320 and VND22,410, down 70 dong and 60 dong from last week rates, respectively.
Techcombank also listed its buying and selling rates at VND22,340 and VND22,460, down 40 dong and 20 dong from last week rates, respectively.
Vietinbank's buying and selling rates were at VND 22,370 and VND22,450, Asia Commercial Bank's were at VND22,330 and VND22,430 and MBBank's were at VND22,310 and VND22,410, respectively
At the Quoc Trinh Jewellery Company on Ha Trung Street, the most popular forex trading point in the unofficial market in Ha Noi, the dollar was bought for VND22,360 and sold for VND22,390.
In the global market, reuters.com said the dollar languished at more than three-week lows against a basket of major currencies on Monday after a strongly disappointing employment report prompted investors to rule out the chance of a hike in US interest rates this month.
Meanwhile, gold price stayed stable this morning after hitting its highest in three weeks on June 4. Saigon Jewellery Joint Stock Company sold one tael of SJC gold for VND33.64 million ($1,498), while Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewellery and DOJI Jewellery and Gems sold one tael of gold for VND33.59 million and VND33.6 million, respectively. In the global market, gold sold for $1,241 per ounce, or $1,495 per tael. — VNS
