Generali Vietnam has launched the “Sat Canh Ben Mien Trung” (Standing Side By Side With Central Vietnam) emergency relief programme with a total fund of VND6.5 billion (US$281,000).

The comprehensive disaster relief plan aims to provide immediate and sustainable support to thousands of disadvantaged families seriously impacted by the recent flooding in 35 districts of seven central provinces of Viet Nam including Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai.

Funding for “Sat Canh Ben Mien Trung” comes from the “Gen Yeu Thuong” charity fund contributed by Generali Vietnam’s staff, agents and the company.

“I am deeply touched by the compassion, kindness, and generosity of Generali Vietnam’s staff and agents. Such collective efforts and joint commitment have made our comprehensive relief programme possible to help our countrymen in Central Vietnam overcome difficulties and rebuild their lives,” said Ms Tina Nguyen, Generali Vietnam CEO.

As part of the relief programme, Generali Vietnam will partner with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to directly deliver donations to over 1,000 disadvantaged families in the seven central provinces. The company will partner with Hue Central Hospital to provide free health checkups and medicines to approximately 7,500 people exposed to health risks caused by recent flooding in the region.

Generali Vietnam will sponsor UNICEF’s programme providing support to children and women in the central region who suffer from severe stress, anxiety and mental trauma due to the loss of their parents and loved ones in the disaster.

In 2020, Generali Vietnam successfully implemented other meaningful community intiatives such as the unique parenting education programme “Sinh Con, Sinh Cha” (Born Children, Born Parents), scholarship program “Cung Em Den Truong” (Your Companion To School) and fundraising activities supporting the COVID-19 emergency.

In recognition of the company’s positive and sustainable contributions to the society, Generali Vietnam has been awarded the “Saigon Times CSR 2020” certification, honouring companies with outstanding community initiatives. — VNS
