Foreigners to get VAT refunds at more airports


Foreigners purchasing goods in Viet Nam will be refunded the value added tax at five more exit terminals while leaving the country from July 1.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Foreigners purchasing goods in Viet Nam will be refunded the value added tax (VAT) at five more exit terminals while leaving the country from July 1.

These terminals include the Da Nang International Airport and the Da Nang Port in the central Da Nang city; the Cam Ranh International Airport and the Nha Trang Port in the central Khanh Hoa province; and the Khanh Hoi international port in HCM City.

Foreigner must have bills of the purchased goods and fill the VAT refund forms within a maximum of 60 days of the exit date. The value of the products written on the bills and the VAT refund forms, purchased at one store in one day, must be more than VND2 million or US$95.

The tax refunds are being made under Circular No 72 of the Ministry of Finance, approved by the Prime Minister and issued on May 30.

There are now seven exit terminals where VAT will be refunded, including the Noi Bai International Airport in Ha Noi and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City. — VNS
