QUẢNG NAM – The not-for-profit charity Lifestart Foundation (Australia), in partnership with the Quảng Nam Union of Friendship Organisations, distributed 37 new bicycles to disadvantaged students in the underprivileged Nam Giang district and Điện Bàn town in the central province.

The bicycles were given to 25 ethnic students at schools in Nam Giang District and 12 others to disadvantaged school students in Điện Bàn Town, one of many community projects undertaken by Lifestart Foundation annually.

The primary goal of this initiative is to facilitate easier school commuting for these students who come from families facing significant financial burdens, including single-parent families, orphans, families with illnesses or unstable work conditions, low-income earners and parents working far from home.

Living in remote villages, these determined students had to walk long distances or rely on friends for transportation, directly impeding their learning process.

The provision of new bicycles by Lifestart Foundation has addressed a crucial need in Nam Giang District and Điện Bàn Town, creating favourable learning conditions for impoverished students and contributing to the successful implementation of teaching and learning activities in schools throughout the province.

Karen Leonard OAM (Order of Australia Medal), founder of Lifestart Foundation, said: "Alongside the Lifestart Foundation Education Scholarships for underprivileged students, we are proud to expand our outreach through the distribution of bicycles to the broader community. This initiative aims to facilitate safer and more convenient school commutes, while also fostering a spirit of determination and hope among recipients."

Earlier in 2025, Lifestart Foundation distributed essential items to ethnic minority students at Kpa-KoLong Primary School in Hiệp Đức district of the province in celebration of the Tết (the Lunar New Year) holiday.

Recently, they awarded Huế General Medicine and Residency Scholarships to exceptionally talented students from central Việt Nam along with three new laptops, with a total value exceeding US$60,275. Additionally, Lifestart Foundation has recently presented ten clean water systems to Phước Sơn, Quế Sơn and Thăng Bình districts worth more than VNĐ472 million (more than $19,500)

Through its Education Scholarships and Housing Improvement projects, it has invested over VNĐ40 billion (approximately Australian $2,424,000, or about $1.55 million) in the youth of central Việt Nam. VNS
