HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Seeking ideas for National Exhibition and Fair Centre's structure, local property developer Vingroup has started a design competition.
In April, Vingroup became a strategic stakeholder in Viet Nam Exhibition and Fair Centre Joint Stock Company after acquiring an 89.42 per cent stake in the Viet Nam Exhibition and Fair Centre One Member Co. Ltd. (VEFAC).
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung instructed relevant ministries and agencies to execute a project for constructing the National Exhibition and Fair Centre on the basis of equitizing VEFAC.
In accordance with the Prime Minister's directive, an exhibition and fair centre of international standards will be built over an area of about 125.79ha in the Nhat Tan-Noi Bai axis in western Ha Noi. It is expected to contribute to the city's development.
The project is aimed at creating an "exhibition city," which will be the hub of a wide range of indoor and outdoor exhibition activities, as well as cultural and political events.
With a total indoor exhibition area of 250,000sq.m., the National Exhibition and Fair Centre is expected to be one of the largest fair centres in Asia.
The centre will also consist of functional areas, including a 300-room five-star hotel, a 1000-room four-star hotel, and a 20,000sq.m. office building.
According to Vingroup, the project's investor, the design competition is open to all local and foreign individuals and organizations. Submissions should have both quality and art elements and suggest ideas for building a symbol of the capital city.
"The National Exhibition and Fair Centre will be a venue for regional and international business circles to meet and showcase their products. We also hope that the centre will help local firms to reach domestic and foreign markets to grow further," said Le Khac Hiep, Vice Chairman of Vingroup.
The last date for submissions is August 31. The first prize winner will get US$50,000, while two second prize winners will get $20,000, and the third prize winner will take home $10,000. — VNS
