The city of Đà Lạt increased vegetable shipments to northern provinces to make up for vegetable shortages due to Typhoon Yagi damaging local farms.

Agricultural product suppliers in Đà Lạt and nearby regions said that they had increased shipments of agricultural products, mainly vegetables, to the northern provinces by 30 per cent to address shortages caused by Typhoon Yagi.

A representative from Phong Thúy Agricultural Company, Đức Trọng District, Lâm Đồng Province, said that supermarkets requested more root vegetables and fewer leaf vegetables.

This is because root vegetables are easier to store and transport, while leaf vegetables are more difficult to preserve and can be sourced locally or from nearby provinces.

Nguyễn Thúy Quyên, a produce trader in Đơn Dương District, said that her agricultural business had increased purchases by 20 per cent to supply wholesale markets in Hà Nội and Hải Phòng, which were heavily hit by the storm.

Other similar traders had also placed orders before the storm hit.
