HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Canon Viet Nam donated VND250 million (US$11,900) to improve Thin Hung B primary school in Bu Dop District, one of Binh Phuoc Province's most underprivileged areas, while some of its staff pitched in to give it a makeover.

As a part of a programme called "Help with Love," the Canon employees painted the walls of the school's four classrooms, brought over tables, chairs, blackboards, a printer, and other school supplies, installed a new name board for the school, and repaired the yard.

Two of the classrooms had been badly degraded and unusable.

All of it was done with the grant provided by Canon, which has also dug a new well to supply clean water to the students.

They were supported by transportation company KWE and contributions from a number of samaritans.

Bu Dop borders Cambodia and nearly 17 per cent of its population is ethnic.— VNS
