Japanese investors are welcome in Can Tho and local authorities will create favourable conditions to lure more foreign investment, according to Vice Chairman of the city’s People’s Committee Duong Tan Hien.
Hosting a reception for representatives from KATO Group and Wons Company on June 19, Hien said he hopes both corporations will establish representative offices in the city and more Japanese investments will be poured in the prioritised sectors of seafood, fruit and healthcare.
Leading officials of the Japanese firms expressed their desire to link Vietnamese and Japanese investment through outlining investment plans and promoting co-operation between Japanese investors and Vietnamese ministries.
They recommended Can Tho focus on media work to lure investment, including developing attractive websites which provide trustworthy information about the local business climate.
According to President of the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Association Pham Thanh Van, Can Tho should develop international-standard hospitals to serve foreign investors.
Construction is underway on Vinmec International Hospital, which will be put into use next year. Meanwhile, Japan will help Can Tho General Hospital set up the Viet Nam-Japan clinic to better serve foreigners and local people.
With a well-developed system of hospitals, schools and entertainment zones, Can Tho will be an ideal destination for Japanese experts and businesses, he added. — VNS
