The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange inched up 0.2 per cent to end at 84.36 points.
Dairy firm Vinamilk (VNM) and property developer Vingroup JSC (VIC) edged up 0.7 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively.
VNM, yesterday, was among the eight winners for import quotas of refined sugar at the Ministry of Industry and Trade's first-ever auction on sugar import quotas.
Two listed sugar companies that also won bidding contracts for sugar import quotas at the auction -- Bien Hoa Sugar JSC (BHS) and Thanh Thanh Cong Tay Ninh Sugar and Sugarcane Co (SBT) -- moved in different directions.
BHS jumped 5.5 per cent, while SBT dropped 4.3 per cent on profit taking.
Among other blue chips, PetroVietnam Gas Corp (GAS) was positive, Vietcombank (VCB) ended flat and consumer goods producer Masan Group (MSN) and insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) declined.
Property developer FLC Group (FLC) was the most active stock with more than 5.8 million shares traded. FLC gained 1.9 per cent in the morning.
More than 81 million shares were exchanged in total, worth VND1.75 trillion (nearly US$78 million). – VNS
