HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Bitexco Financial Tower, an architectural landmark in HCM City, has been listed among the 50 most innovative buildings in the last 15 years.

The list was published by the Council of Tall Buildings, a Chicago-based organisation of architects and designers.

Bitexco was ranked 32nd, alongside other famous buildings in the world, including the Burj Khalipha in Dubai, Taipei 101 in Taiwan, 1 Bligh Street in Sydney, and the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort in Singapore.

To be included in the list, the buildings had to challenge the "traditional typology of tall buildings in some way, through innovation in form, design, façade, environmental approach, and technologies."

In other words, this isn't just a list of the tallest buildings on Earth, although many of the buildings figuring on the list would qualify.

Earlier, Bitexco Tower was named among the world's 20 most Iconic Skyscrapers by CNN Go in 2011, before receiving the ‘Excellence in Structure Engineering Award 2011,' given by the National Council of Structure Associations (NCSEA) of United States .

In 2013, the tower was voted by CNN as one of the world's 25 greatest skyscrapers and icons of construction.

The Bitexco Financial Tower, owned by Vietnam's Bitexco Group, is located in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City. At a height of 263 metres, the skyscraper is 68-storeyed and has three basements.
