On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index posted a loss of 70.9 points, equivalent to 6.46 per cent, to end the morning session at 1,026.27 points. The market breadth was negative with 475 stocks declining, of which 221 stocks hit the maximum intra-day loss. Only 18 stocks rose.
The 30 large-cap tracker VN30-Index also plunged. All the largest stocks fell, with 20 stocks down 7 per cent, the maximum daily loss. The index ended the morning session at 1,011.07 points, down 6.7 per cent.
All sectors posted poor performance this morning. The banking sector posted the biggest loss, with big names hitting the maximum daily loss like Vietcombank (VCB) down 6.98 per cent, JSC Bank For Investment And Development Of Vietnam (BID) down 6.9 per cent, Vietinbank (CTG) down 6.9 per cent, VPBank (VPB) down 6.91 per cent and MBBank (MBB) down 6.88 per cent.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index decreased by 7.16 per cent to 204.98 points. The HNX30-Index also witnessed a decrease of 8.69 per cent to 301.98 points. — VNS
