Authorities in the northern province of Bac Ninh licenced 92 new foreign-funded projects worth US$206.58 million in the first half of 2018, up 3.29 per cent over the same period last year.
The province also allowed 45 existing FDI projects to increase their capital by $211.11 million. Head of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Dinh Xuan attributed the results to the province’s efforts in building a favourable business climate, which has supported investors in research, technology transfer, and land clearance.
The investors were also facilitated in collaborating with universities and vocational centres to meet their human resources needs. Xuan said the province held three dialogues between authorities and enterprises during the period to help clear obstacles hindering business activities.
By the end of June, Bac Ninh had licenced 1,228 FDI projects, with capital amounting to about $16.66 billion. Of the total, 836 projects worth $15.5 billion were in local industrial parks. — VNS
