HA Noi (Biz Hub)— Viet Nam and Italy signed an aviation co-operation agreement in Rome on Friday, a move expected to facilitate development in tourism and trade.

The agreement, signed by Vietnamese Deputy Transport Minister Pham Quy Tieu and Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Bruno Archi, covers aviation security and safety, customs regulations, transport fees and trade opportunities.

Archi said the agreement would provide a basic foundation for the two partners in the aviation sector, fuelling economic links to match the bilateral friendship. He said economic co-operation would be a key theme during his July visit to Viet Nam with representatives from Italian businesses.

Tieu said the agreement would open a new chapter in the co-operation between Italy and Viet Nam, especially in transport – a key sector expected to transform Viet Nam into a modern industrialised nation by 2020.—VNS
