HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Australian Anti-dumping Commission (ADC) has announced an investigation into alleged dumping of quicklime imported from Malaysia, Thailand and Việt Nam following an application lodged by Cockburn Cement Limited, a manufacturer of quicklime in Australia.

The application alleges that the goods have been exported to Australia at prices less than their normal value, and that the dumping has caused material injury to the Australian industry through losses of profits and sales volume, price depression and reduced market shares.

The investigation period is January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. It will examine exports of goods to Australia during this period to determine whether dumping has occurred. It will also examine the Australian market from January 1, 2012 for injury analysis purposes.

The plaintiff asked to levy an anti-dumping tariff of between 64.4 per cent and 86.1 per cent for quicklime imported from Viet Nam, said the Vietnam Competition Authority.

According to the plaintiff's petition, about 39,214 tonnes of quicklime were shipped to Australia in the 2014-2015 period, accounting 33 per cent of the country's market share.

The goods, currently classified to tariff subheading 2522.10.00, are duty free. — VNS
