HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian shares faced losses on August 12 when both China and Viet Nam devaluated their currencies.

The Hang Seng Index led the losers, falling 582.19 points to close at 23,916.02 in Hong Kong, while the Nikkei 225 dropped 327.98 points to end at 20,392.77 in Tokyo.

The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 41.59 points to end at 3,886.32 in mainland China, and Singapore's Straits Times Index also decreased 91.57 points to end at 3,061.49.

In Viet Nam, the VN Index lost 8.81 points to close at 604.24, and the HNX Index reduced 1.09 points to close at 82.75.— VNS
