Both bourses in Viet Nam rose, with the VN index adding 2.06 points to reach 606.70 and the HNX gaining 0.39 points to end at 83.06.
Hong Kong stocks also closed 0.15 per cent higher, tracking Wall Street's gains on upbeat US data before a keynote speech this week by the Federal Reserve chief.
The Hang Seng Index gained 36.81 points to close at 25,159.76 on a turnover of HK$70.37 billion (US$9.08 billion).
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.23 per cent, or 5.12 points, to finish at 2,240.21 on a turnover of 139.6 billion yuan (US$22.7 billion).
Tokyo stocks closed flat, with the Nikkei 225 adding 0.03 per cent, or 4.66 points, to close at 15,454.45, while the Topix index of all first-section shares slipped 0.05 per cent, or 0.65 points, to land at 1,279.64.
Singapore shares ended 0.22 per cent higher on Wednesday. The Straits Times Index closed up 7.22 points to end at 3,323.65. Some 1.68 billion shares worth S$936 million changed hands. — VNS
