Asian indices rise, local ones end mixed


Asian stock indices climbed in trading on July 17 as Chinese markets rose.

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian stock indices climbed in trading on July 17 as Chinese markets rose.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Index gained 134.18 points to close at 3,957.35, and the Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong added 252.49 points to end at 25,415.27. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 50.8 points to close at 20,650.92, and the Straits Times Index in Singapore added 14.59 points to end at 3,353.45.

In Viet Nam, the VN Index gained 1.73 points to end at 628.63 on the HCM Stock Exchange, while the HNX Index lost 0.51 points to close at 87.07 on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange. — VNS
