Anti-counterfeit detection software to be launched by year end

Once operational, the platform will allow citizens to trace the origin of products, contributing to the prevention of trade fraud, counterfeit goods and smuggling. It will also serve as a valuable data source for policy planning.

HÀ NỘI — Product origin traceability software with the ability to detect counterfeit goods is expected to be launched by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and VNPT by the end of this year.

Aimed at preventing and strictly controlling the quality of goods, especially food safety and pharmaceuticals, the MPS has recommended that ministries, sectors and relevant agencies enhance their State management capacity within their assigned domains.

It also urged a prompt review and refinement of mechanisms, policies and legal frameworks to ensure practicality and facilitate implementation, but without loosening regulatory oversight.

As part of Project 06 assigned by the Prime Minister, one of the key tasks of the MPS is to co-ordinate the development of a product origin data platform.

The Ministry is currently working with the MoIT and VNPT to build this system, which is expected to undergo pilot implementation by the end of this year, initially targeting selected product groups.

Once operational, the platform will allow citizens to trace the origin of products, contributing to the prevention of trade fraud, counterfeit goods and smuggling. It will also serve as a valuable data source for policy planning.

A nationwide inspection campaign on the quality of goods was launched from May 15 to June 15 under the direction of the Prime Minister, led by the MoIT’s Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development.

During this period, market surveillance forces conducted 3,891 inspections and handled over 3,100 violations. — VNS
