More than 100 businesses from Viet Nam, China, Laos and Thailand are showcasing their products at the International Trade Fair of the Northwest Region 2019, which is underway in the northern province of Dien Bien.

On display at the fair, running until Friday, are manufacturing-mechanical products, machinery, industrial and agricultural equipment, office equipment, agro-forestry-fisheries goods, food and foodstuff, textile and garments as well as handicrafts.

Le Van Quy, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said the trade fair was part of the national trade promotion programme approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The regional-level event was of important economic and political significance, aiming to promote the images and potential for socio-economic, trade, service, culture and tourism development in Dien Bien and other localities of Viet Nam and foreign countries, he said.

The vice chairman described the event as a good chance for Vietnamese firms to expand partnerships with their counterparts both at home and from Laos, Thailand and China’s Yunnan province. — VNS
