HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Toyota Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd. (TMV) is recalling 19,616 vehicles for a faulty power window master switch at all Toyota dealer networks nationwide.
The recall began on January 8, according to a press release.
The campaign is being conducted by the TMV following the announcement of the Toyota Motor Corporation about a recall campaign for checking and replacing the power window master switch for 12,611 assembled units of Corolla Altis, 7,002 Vios and 3 imported Yaris models in Viet Nam.
TMV will carry out checking, repairing and free replacements (if necessary) for the affected vehicles including 3 Yaris units produced from September 1, 2009 to July 1, 2010, 12,611 Corolla units from January 5, 2009 to December 31, 2010, and 7,002 Vios units from January 5, 2009 to October 31, 2009.
According to the TMC, the power window master switch in these vehicles may have been manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease. If not enough grease is applied, under certain conditions the switch may develop a short circuit that can cause the switch assembly to overheat and melt. A melting switch can produce smoke and potentially lead to a fire.
This campaign will be implemented at all TMV's dealers nationwide from January 8, 2016. The replacement will take between 5 minutes to an hour for each car. However, the exact duration depends on the plans of each dealer. Customers who own affected vehicles will receive a letter about the Recall Campaign and will be asked to bring their vehicles to the TMV's dealers for free checking and replacements.— VNS
