Ford Viet Nam general manager Pham Van Dung speaks about the achievements and new technologies his company is showcasing at the ongoing Viet Nam Motor Show.

Since the beginning of this year Ford Viet Nam has been announcing record monthly sales. Can you tell us how your company has managed to achieve this?

Fords gigantic achievement since the beginning of the year was driven by continued strong demand for its full line-up of vehicles in Viet Nam. Were connecting with the work and lifestyles of a wide variety of Vietnamese customers, and together with our dealer partners, we are working to provide the very best customer and Ford ownership experience.

Ranger, EcoSport and Transit continue to lead their respective segments in 2016. The segment-defining Ranger contributed to the sales record every month and remains on track to be Viet Nams best-selling pick-up truck for the second consecutive year.

The EcoSport compact urban SUV maintained leadership of its segment with high retail sales and continues to define a whole new vehicle segment in Viet Nam.

Business owners and operators across a range of industries continue to appreciate the durability, versatility and value proposition of the Transit, which has been Viet Nams best-selling commercial van for more than two years.

Thanks to One Ford strategy – One Team, One Plan, One Goal – Ford is currently one of the three fastest-growing automobile brands in Vietnam with an annual growth rate of 60 per cent, double the industry level.

How have the new special consumption tax rates affected the market since they took effect in July? What does the immediate future hold for the market?

The new special consumption tax impacts vehicles with big engines of above 2.5L.

Only one version of Ranger Wildtrak and one version of Ford Everest have suffered an increase in price due to this change of tax.

Ford provides a wide range of products with smaller engine sizes with no compromise on performance that touch the heart of consumers who value great fuel economy with safety and smart features.

The EcoBoost engine technology that Ford brings to the market via Fiesta 1.0L, Focus 1.5L and a new product to come soon is proving our strategy to stay green and committed to a market like Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam Motor Show is on in Ha Noi. Has Ford brought any new cars or technologies? Tell us about them.

Ford introduces a remarkably interactive exhibition area which highlights green, smart, safe and quality technologies. Besides, the global models which substantially contribute to Fords impressive growth are also on display, including Ranger, the most popular pick-up in Viet Nam with supreme capabilities and attractive design; EcoSport, the model that defines a whole new segment of urban SUVs in Vietnam with its unique blend of versatility and fuel efficiency; Everest, a trendsetter for medium SUVs; Fiesta and Focus with EcoBoost engines and smart and safety features.

The 2016 Viet Nam Motor Show is also a significant event for Ford Viet Nam to launch a remarkable all-new premium SUV imported from USA: the all-new Ford Explorer 2.3L EcoBoost Limited with a series of best-in-class safe and smart comforts.

Thus, with the new launch, Fords EcoBoost family will be enlarged from 1.0L to 2.3L on small sports passenger car to luxury SUVs.

How does the continuation of Circular 20 affect the market?

Circular 20 itself has played an important role in protecting consumers rights and ensuring traffic safety and environmental protection.

Doing car business requires professional services and a long-term relationship with consumers that come from technical support, human resource training, genuine parts supply, maintenance, warranty, recall for service, technology update, road safety standards.

We support regulations that promote transparency and care for consumers with respect to safety and services they need.
