The introduction of the station, the third of its kind after Hà Nội and HCM City, is included in the Việt Nam National Energy Efficiency Programme 2019-30
The first battery swapping station for electric two-wheelers has been launched in the central city by Selex Smart Electric Vehicle Joint Stock Company (Selex Motors) as part of the technical assistance project ‘Việt Nam Low Emission Energy Programme II’ (V-LEEP II) of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) with funding by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The introduction of the station, the third of its kind after Hà Nội and HCM City, is included in the Việt Nam National Energy Efficiency Programme 2019-30, and helps reduce five per cent of gasoline and oil consumption in the transportation sector compared to the industry's fuel consumption forecast and an energy-efficient urban model by 2025.
The MOIT has collaborated with the V-LEEP II Project to implement numerous energy efficiency solutions in the potential areas of the VNEEP3 Programme, including the development of electric vehicles.
It will help Đà Nẵng City transform into the first energy-efficient urban model in Việt Nam.
Selex Motors is one of Việt Nam's pioneering firms in the field of electric two-wheelers, having lately earned significant market share in Hà Nội and HCM City.
Selex Motors has continued to expand its market and develop its electric vehicle ecosystem in the central city as part of the V-LEEP II Project's co-operation and technical support, with the goal of introducing and providing people with a ‘green’, ‘clean’ vehicle and service that does not emit smoke, dust, or noise into the environment, thereby contributing to the development of a green, clean, energy-efficient, and low-carbon city.
Selex Motors sees the priority development of a battery swapping station infrastructure system as a critical factor in popularising and developing the electric vehicle ecosystem in Đà Nẵng City, as well as contributing to the MOIT and the city's development goals.
Selex Motors’ first two-wheeled electric vehicle battery swapping stations were set up at 121-123 Lê Đại Hành Street in Cẩm Lệ district, following research, survey, and evaluation to build a network of electric charging stations in the city supported by the V-LEEP II Project, paving the way for a chain of subsequent battery swapping stations to be installed in the near future.
Promoting the development of supporting infrastructure for the development of two-wheeled electric vehicles, such as this battery swapping station system, will aid in accelerating the use of electric vehicles in general, and two-wheeled electric vehicles in particular, in the beach city, thereby contributing to the early achievement of the VNEEP3 Programme's energy saving and efficiency goals in the field of transportation and urban development.
USAID and Đà Nẵng had co-operated in the deployment of clean energy and advanced energy systems, such as rooftop solar and electric vehicles in 2019-23.
