HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — General Motors Viet Nam (GM Viet Nam) has successfully integrated into the GM Southeast Asia region, opening more opportunities in terms of product portfolio, brand activities and people development in line with GM global and regional standards.

Tim Zimmerman, president of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations (GM SEA), made the announcement yesterday during a visit to Viet Nam on the occasion of Viet Nam Motors Show 2014 held from November 19-23 in HCM City.

Last year, 88,000 GM vehicles were sold in Southeast Asia, of which 5,002 were sold in Viet Nam, ranking third in sales volume in the region after Thailand and Indonesia.

The Chevrolet Cruze vehicle has seen a 30 increase in growth in sales volume.

Zimmerman said "with a population of over 90 million, high and constant economic growth rate, low car-ownership rate (1.85 per cent), the current Viet Nam automobile market is small but will have huge potential in the near future."

The Chevrolet Cruze will continue to be the strategic car for the company and a product portfolio for Chevrolet will also be developed soon.

At the Viet Nam Motor Show, GM Viet Nam introduced the limited edition Chevrolet Cruze Black Edition and the new Chevrolet Colorado with Sport Package, and the Chevrolet Camaro 2014 RS as well.

"The most-wanted sedan now comes with sportier and outstanding black exterior and interior features that will enhance its appeal and attract customers who are looking for more style. By being a limited edition, it will be a valued possession for Cruze lovers," Gaurav Gupta, GM Vietnam managing director, said.

The new Chevrolet Colorado with Sport Package offers a range of new features, including a new six-speed transmission and a more powerful new-generation Duramax engine. — VNS
