HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Euro Auto, the official distributor of BMW in Viet Nam, announced on Tuesday that it was recalling 1,189 BMW E46 vehicles to replace faulty front passenger-side airbags.

Euro Auto representatives had sent a notice to Vietnam Register and notified car owners to register for free replacement of the malfunctioning airbag in BMW 3 Series models.

BMW and airbag suppliers said that high humidity in the air contributed to the malfunction of the airbag and, in this case, they should be replaced.

Car owners will be notified when the airbag replacements are available.

Euro Auto said that the replacement of the airbag in 1,189 BMW vehicles might take up to two years.

Meanwhile, General Motors Viet Nam on August 20 announced the recall of 486 Chevrolet Captiva vehicles for inspection of the driver's and passengers' seatbelts.

GM Viet Nam said that the cars might be equipped with a seatbelt assembly that was not tightened properly during the manufacturing process.

The bolts on the seatbelt assembly would be inspected and tightened if they are found to be loose.

Chevrolet said there would be no charge for the adjustment, which would take just a few minutes. — VNS
