HA NOI (Biz Hub) – Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association opened the 12th Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) on October 5, with more than 100 models from 13 prestigious auto brands and other related exhibitors.

The opening ceremony in Ha Noi is part of the VMS annual exhibition, held at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center on 91 Tran Hung Dao Street. This year's theme is "Accelerate to Celebrate," emphasising the importance of automobile development in today's society.

VMS featured leading new models, both imported and assembled in Viet Nam, from US brands such as Chevrolet and Ford to Japanese brands like Honda and Toyota, along with the introduction of giant Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz and several other brands from Europe and South Korea.

The five-day exhibition showcased not only models from famous international automakers, but also provided information about the Vietnamese auto industry and its development strategy.

Thirteen auto brands exhibited their latest creations at the VMS, aimed at introducing new technology and designs to the different market segments in Viet Nam. Several brands made their debut in front of northern Vietnamese consumers at the VMS, while others strived to reinstate themselves as leading names in their respective segments.

Well-known brands, such as Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota and Honda, showcased a generation of new products, including new SUVs and sports models never before seen in the market. Key models included the Ford Explorer 2017, the Chevrolet Colorado 2017 and the new Toyota Corolla Altis. The brands highlighted improvements to their engines and design alternations to fit the younger demographic.

Leading truck producers, such as European MAN Truck & Bus, Russian Kamaz and Japanese Mitsubishi FUSO, are also expected to expand the transportation scene in Viet Nam. Kamaz brought to Viet Nam new fully imported trucks in its much awaited return to the country since the 90s, this time with larger capacities and economic efficiency. Meanwhile, Hyundai released three new strategic models through its official assembler and distributor Do Thanh Auto, with a fuel saving feature, high performance and luxurious designs.

Other brands, such as Isuzu, KIA and Lexus, also featured new designs and improved motors. The common demographic objectives have shifted to young urban consumers, resulting in more affordable prices.

The VMS annual exhibition had been held in HCM City for the past three years due to the unavailability of a venue in Ha Noi. — VNS
