HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Toyota Motor Vietnam (TMV) is recalling 133 Lexus ES 250 and ES 350 cars to fix a brake problem, as part of a larger global recall of a number of Toyota models.

The vehicles, produced from September 10, 2015 to February 18, 2016, were imported from Japan and officially supplied by TMV.

The check and replacement of the brake actuator will take place at Lexus-Thang Long centre in Ha Noi and Lexus-Saigon Centre in HCM City.

The involved vehicles are equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control system (TRC) and vehicle stability control system (VSC) that are all controlled by the brake actuator.

There is a possibility that some brake actuators may have been assembled with a pump containing an O-ring that is damaged in such a way that brake fluid pressure may not be properly controlled during ABS, TRC and VSC activation. This could cause a loss of vehicle stability and control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Under the recall, TMV will inspect the condition of each vehicle and the brake actuators will be replaced. The remedy will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.

As for those vehicles imported not through a TMV official supplier, the TMV will help them contact Toyota Motor Corporation. If their information is confirmed from the corporation, TMC will conduct checks and replace the brake actuators without fee for the owners. — VNS
