HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Ford Viet Nam, the US automaker, on Tuesday announced record sales in May with 1,747 units sold, a year-on-year increase of 87 per cent.

The company said sales across its entire lineup in Viet Nam helped drive the record month, including continuing demand for the Ranger, EcoSport, Everest and Transit.

With these results, the company's market share in May year-on-year jumped from 7.7 per cent to 9.6 per cent.

Ford Ranger led the May performance, delivering an all-time record month with retail sales soaring 166 per cent year-on-year to 818 units.

The Transit, which led the country's bus and van segment in 2014, maintained its segment leadership with May retail sales rising by 43 per cent annually to 451 units.

For the year to date, the company's total sales surged by 71 per cent from 7,335 units in 2014. — VNS
